A technology company is being sued by Escambia County for breach of contract over a software program intended to be used by the county’s Department of Corrections. The County says the program never worked and they are seeking to recover the $240,000 it spent on the software. The lawsuit says Spirit Solutions Incorporated misrepresented its capabilities when it bid on the contract to provide the county with case management software which was supposed to allow the county to go to a 100% electronic system to manage and track probation cases along with pretrial division, work release and community service cases. An attorney for Spirit Solutions said the two parties are in mediation and are optimistic they can agree to a settlement outside of the lawsuit.
