More than 13 sections of the old Pensacola Bay Bridge have been removed to make an artificial reef about seven miles from the Pensacola Pass. Each section weighs more than 200 tons. The new artificial reef is permitted by Escambia County and additional barge-loads of the old bridge sections will continue to be placed at the site.
