OLD BEACH SAILFISH SIGN SOLD

The old Pensacola Beach sailfish sign in Gulf Breeze, showing the turn to Pensacola Beach, has been auctioned off. A new sign with LED lights and better weather-proofing has replaced the old sign, which was  auctioned off in four pieces with the sailfish going to Pensacola Beach resident Danny Sloan for a high bid of $27,000. The four pieces sold for a total of $45,750. Pensacola attorney Jim Reeves, who owns the Pensacola Beach RV Resort, bought the yellow starburst Pensacola Beach sign for $10,000, which he said will be displayed at the RV resort. Commissioner Robert Bender said the money from the auction will go toward the cost of the new sign.
