The Florida Highway Patrol says a 68-year-old Santa Rosa County man died in a single vehicle crash in Allentown, in North Santa Rosa County Friday. Troopers say J.R. Welch, of Milton was northbound on Highway 87 just before 11am Friday morning when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle but ran off the road and hit a tree. Welch was airlifted to Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
