Daniel Siemen, the Pensacola Police Department detective who shot and killed a man on July 5th and was subsequently fired, is appealing his termination. Siemen was fired on October 3rd after an internal investigation showed he violated the department’s use of deadly force policy. An Escambia County grand jury declined to indict Siemen on criminal charges. Officer Mike Wood, Pensacola Police Department spokesman, said Siemen’s appeal will follow the police union’s grievance process in its collective bargaining agreement with the city.
