Pensacola Police say a man had a narrow escape when he was run over by a train yesterday…literally. Department spokesman Officer Mike Wood, said it happened near the old Amtrak station on Heinberg Street and 14th Avenue when a man fell asleep on the tracks. The engineer in the approaching train saw him and applied the brakes, but the locomotive and about a dozen cars passed over him. Because he was between the rails he was not injured. Police able to get the man out from under the train and the scene was cleared within a couple of hours.
