The trial has begun for a 27-year-old Pensacola man accused of killing a woman and a young child in a hit-and-run crash on Cervantes Street last year. 27-year-old Markquise Wallace faces a variety of charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide. On June 6th, 2018, a 28-year-old woman, and an 8-month-old baby were killed and a 27-year-old woman was injured but survived. The women were crossing Cervantes Street while pushing a baby stroller and were hit by a Dodge Challenger, a rental car, which fled the scene. The vehicle was eventually found and the car’s GPS had recorded a speed of 94 mph. Wallace was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and was extradited back to Pensacola. Additionally, four people were charged with helping Wallace flee Pensacola.
