GULF BREEZE DOCTOR ARRESTED

A Veterans Affairs doctor living in Gulf Breeze has been arrested on federal charges for illegal distribution of Oxycontin. Dr. David Lelio and his wife, Nadja, were arrested November 6th by U.S. Marshals in Santa Rosa County and have been extradited to Virginia where their crimes allegedly occurred. The two are charged with illegal distribution of controlled substances, conspiracy to illegally distribute controlled substances and false statements. According to the federal warrants, Lelio is accused of writing prescriptions for patients who agreed to give his wife one-third to half of the pills. Lelio had recently been hired by the VA hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi.
