The Florida Supreme Court has upheld a first-degree murder conviction in a case from Holmes County. Johnny Calhoun, was convicted for the December 2010 murder of Mia Brown who was kidnapped in Holmes County, bound with duct tape and put her in the trunk of her car. Some days later, her burned body and car were found in wooded area in Geneva, Alabama. Calhoun’s attorneys argued that newly discovered evidence implicated another man in the murder, but the Supreme Court said there was admissibility and credibility problems with the evidence and upheld the conviction.
