The trial date has been set for the National Rifle Association challenge to a state law that increased the minimum age to buy rifles and other long guns in Florida. The NRA filed the lawsuit in 2018 challenging the constitutionality of the age restriction. Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker scheduled a trial for a period that begins October 19th, 2020. However, he set a June 10th deadline for the state and the NRA to file motions for a summary judgment, which, if successful, would eliminate the need for a trial. He also directed that a mediation conference start by June 3rd.
