CAR HITS WHITING FIELD SIGN

The Florida Highway Patrol says a car hit a Whiting Field entrance monument yesterday on Highway 87 and ended up in a holding pond. Troopers say the driver went off the roadway and hit the monument before crashing into a nearby holding pond on Highway 87 near Langley Avenue. The monument was recently unveiled for the Naval Air Station Whiting Field in August and was heavily damaged. The condition of the driver is not known
