Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinson announced that construction is set to begin this summer for the 210 million-dollar construction project to expand ST Engineering facility at the Pensacola International Airport. Four new aircraft maintenance hangars will bring more than 1,300 jobs to the facility. The project is funded by state and federal economic development programs, with Escambia County pledging 10 million dollars and the city 15 million dollars. The city is still seeking 4.8 million dollars to fully fund the project. The City Council authorized the mayor to borrow up to 20 million dollars if necessary, money that could be offset by future grants.
