ELECTRIC SCOOTER BAN

A temporary ban has been placed on renting micromobility devices in Walton County. Florida Law defines micromobility devices as any motorized transportation made available for private use and not capable of traveling at a speed greater than 20 miles per hour on level ground. The most common type, which sparked the debate, are electric scooters. The decision came after recent legislation declared the devices could be used anywhere bicycles are allowed. It also gave local governments the ability to regulate how companies could rent them. The temporary ban doesn’t keep citizens from using privately owned devices, but stops companies from renting them.
