FLEEING DRIVER ARRESTED

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department says a 27-year-old Cantonment man was arrested on drug charges after fleeing from a traffic stop. A deputy saw Thomas Jackson not wearing his seatbelt near Clifton Avenue and Lucerne Avenue in the Crescent Lake area and attempted a traffic stop, but Jackson fled. The deputy terminated the traffic stop, but later located the vehicle parked on Armenia Drive and found Jackson outside a residence. A bag of marijuana was found in his pocket and he was booked into the Escambia County Jail for fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
