The clerk at a Warrington hotel in west Escambia County who shot a suspect during a fight on Sunday, will not be charged under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. at the Quality Inn on New Warrington Road when the clerk got into a physical altercation with Steven Ballard who was said to have been causing a disturbance. Ballard received a non-threatening gunshot wound, but he, and not the hotel clerk, will be charged.
