The Walton County Sheriff’s Office’s newest K9 assisted with a drug bust early yesterday morning. Deputies made a traffic stop about 3 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 98 and County Highway 393. In the car was the driver – 40-year-old Brandon Shaw from Alabama – and a passenger – 38-year-old Cassie Ponthieux, from Freeport. K-9 Colt alerted to the presence of narcotics and methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and Hydrocodone and Oxycodone pills were seized. A handgun and more than $5,000 in cash were also found. Both Shaw and Ponthieux face trafficking and possession charges, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
