GENERAL CHAPPIE JAMES REMEMBRANCE

The life of the late General Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. will be honored this weekend ahead of the anniversary of his 100th birthday. James  became the first African-American four-star general in the United States. The event will be this Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base. At 5 p.m. American Legion Post 193 in Pensacola will host a reception in his honor. On Sunday, the Chappie James Museum will host a reception followed by a 2pm program at the Sanders Beach-Corrine Jones Resource Center on South “I” Street in Pensacola. On Monday, February 10, at 3pm, Mayor Grover Robinson will read the Proclamation declaring February 11th as General “Chappie” James Day in Pensacola.
