FLORIDA ABORTION BILL

The Florida Senate has approved a bill that would require girls under the age of 18 to get permission from a parent, guardian or a court before they can have an abortion. The measure now goes to the House, where the Republican majority is expected to approve, sending it to Governor Ron DeSantis, who has indicated he will sign it into law. A previous parental consent law was overturned by the Florida Supreme Court in 1989 when Justices which they said violated the state’s constitutional right to privacy, which they said extended to minors.
