FLORIDA EXOTIC REPTILE BAN

Florida lawmakers are considering legislation that would restrict the ownership and sale of more than a dozen exotic reptile species, including green iguanas. However, pet shop owners and breeders oppose the bill saying it will kill a multi-million-dollar industry. Other opponents of the bill said bans on invasive species already established in South Florida will be about as effective as banning mosquitoes. The bill would prohibit breeding or possession of any reptile designated as a conditional or prohibited species.
