The much-awaited demolition process from the federal private property debris removal program has begun in Bay County. Code Enforcement has been accepting applications for the program since April of last year and the first of more than 300 properties was demolished in Southport. The program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and is to help residents remove debris and damaged structures caused by Hurricane Michael. The program isn’t based on income and property owners are not charged for the demolition. An additional 290 properties are still under review.
