MILITARY EXPLOSIVES TESTING

Some residents of Mary Esther said they heard loud noises and that their houses shook five different times on Tuesday. Some believed it was the result of sonic booms from passing jets. However, the Community Engagement Office at Hurlburt Field said the shaking were not sonic booms, but was caused by demolition training by the 823rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair at Hurlburt Field. Each detonation was said to have used demolitions between 80 and 98 pounds in weight.
