The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said a Gulf Breeze man suffered scratches on his chest from a black bear Wednesday evening. He was on his porch when a bear approached and scratched him on the chest. The man did not need medical attention. The FWC said a trap was set to try and capture the bear, which will be humanely killed if captured. Bear encounters aren’t unusual in Santa Rosa County. In July, a pet dog was killed by a black bear and in January 2017, a man and his dog were injured on a walk by an adult female bear who was there with her three cubs.
