Pensacola Police say an arrest has been made in a 35-year-old murder case. On News Year Day, 1985, the body of 23-year-old Tonya McKinley was found in an empty lot at the corner of Peacock Drive and Creighton Road, a block off Scenic Highway. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled. Now Police say 57-year-old Daniel Wells, has been arrested and charged with her murder. The arrest came after a DNA sample obtained from the scene was compared with an open-source genealogy database, which identified several people. As a result of this information Police were able to identify Wells as a suspect. It is said to be the oldest cold-case arrest in Pensacola history.
