Gulf Power announced they plan to pass along savings from lower-than-expected natural gas costs which could result in reduced bills in May. Utilities are required to pass along savings to customers when power-plant fuel costs drop, but those savings typically show up on bills over a several months. Gulf Power and their sister company, Florida Power and Light, would combine fuel savings this year into a one-time bill reduction in May because of the impact of the coronavirus. Customers who use 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a month would see their bills go from $140 a month to $84 in May. The plan has to be approved by the Florida Public Service Commission.
