STATE ATTORNEY’S ELECTION

Greg Marcille has announced he is withdrawing his candidacy for State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit because of health concerns. Marcille has been with the State Attorney’s Office for 34 years and serves as executive director and chief assistant state attorney. Marcille said he is ending his campaign due to health concerns that developed before the current COVID-19 pandemic. He said he will continue his duties at the State Attorney’s Office and all campaign donations will be returned. Marcille’s withdrawal means his only competitor, Ginger Bowden Madden, will run for the office unopposed. She has been an assistant state attorney for 25 years and is the daughter of Bobby Bowden, the retired head football coach of Florida State. She currently supervises assistant prosecutors serving in Okaloosa County and in juvenile courts.
