The Mexico Beach City Council has voted 3-2 to close its beach. They are the last government entity in Bay County to close its beach due to the threat of COVID-19. Mayor Al Cathey and councilman Jerry Smith were the dissenting votes. The council had previously approved a temporary order to allow local residents to use the beach and the city deployed three deputies, four firefighters, a code enforcement officer, as well as patrols in golf carts to enforce the temporary rule.
