Governor Ron DeSantis has suspended all foreclosures and evictions in Florida for 45 days because of the coronavirus pandemic. The order will give relief to people facing foreclosure or evictions. The move comes as the national unemployment filings broke new records again this week with more than 6 million people filing unemployment insurance claims. DeSantis said Florida’s unemployment system is overwhelmed with people filing applications and he has ordered state agencies to find employees that can be temporarily assigned to the state Department of Economic Opportunity to help process claims or answer calls.
