As a way to help out during the coronavirus pandemic the University of West Florida is producing 3D-printed, full-face shields to be distributed at no cost to local health care workers who complete a simple online form. The free face shield kits will be will be available for pick up by health care providers at UWF’s Historic Trust’s Museum of Commerce, 201 E. Zaragoza Street in downtown Pensacola every weekday at 4pm starting Tuesday, April 7th. The shield kit is not a replacement for personal protective equipment like surgical masks and N95 masks, but is an emergency substitution. The shields are flexible and contain no foam or fabric and can be easily pulled apart and washed with soap and water. UWF plans to make 60 shield kits a day.
