REDUCED TRAFFIC CONGESTION

One small benefit of the response to the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. has been the elimination of traffic congestion in the country’s biggest cities and average vehicle speed has increased significantly as well. Congestion is now essentially nonexistent across the nation and the average vehicle miles traveled in the biggest cities is less than half of normal. Air quality in many cities has also shown a marked improvement as pollution levels fall.
