FORT WALTON BEACH TORNADO CONFIRMED

The National Weather Service says it was likely a tornado that touched down in Fort Walton Beach yesterday just before 3pm. Rotation was seen on the radar and a funnel cloud was reported on the ground for a few moments before going over Choctawhatchee Bay, just missing Destin then heading into Walton County. Just before 3:30 p.m., National Weather Service radar in Tallahassee confirmed a tornado near DeFuniak Springs, parallel to Interstate-10. Some damage occurred along U.S. Highway 331 about a half-mile north of Interstate 10, but it could not be confirmed if it was the same tornado that touched down in both places. No injuries were reported.
