PRISON WATER WELL FAILS

The Town of Century says the water well that serves the Century Correctional Institution has failed, and emergency measures are being taken to supply water to the prison. An emergency interconnect using fire hoses was made from Central Water Works fire hydrants on Tedder Road and is supplying adequate water to the prison. Tedder Road will be closed from Highway 29 to the prison due to the fire hoses across the road. Florida Senator Doug Broxson said bottled water is being brought for inmates. Construction on a permanent solution to the problem will begin this week.
