Escambia County has approved a settlement with the Florida Department of Health over its administrative complaint that the county’s Emergency Medical Services division falsified training certifications for instructiors. The county will pay a $5,000 fine and accept a letter of reprimand. The Department of Health filed an administrative complaint against the county in February, but the complaint did not become public until March. Four former members of Escambia County EMS were charged with criminal violations of state law surrounding training certifications.
