102-YEAR-OLD PEARL HARBOR SURVIVOR

Frank Emond (“EE-Men”) is a Pearl Harbor survivor who was on board the U.S.S. Pennsylvania when the Japanese attack began. The retired Navy Chief Warrant Officer was a musician in the ship’s band when the bombing started. His battleship was in drydock and suffered damage and casualties. This past Sunday a drive-by birthday party was held in Gonzalez for his 102nd birthday. He still sings in the choir and sometimes leads the music. He also performs with the Pensacola Civic Band and the Guinness Book of World Records named him the “Oldest Musical Conducter” in the world last year after he participated in a 2019 Memorial Day concert.
