WALTON COUNTY BURN BANS LIFTED

Walton County Commissioners have voted to reinstate the permitting of beach bonfires and special events on the beach, effective immediately. That follows the lifting of the outdoor burning ban that was put in place after the Mussett Bayou fire burned 350 acres of South Walton County and destroyed 30 homes. Commissioner said local fire chiefs consulted with the Florida Forest Service, and all were in agreement that lifting the bans would be appropriate, with continuing monitoring. Commissioners also reviewed the local state of emergency declaration approved on March 16th, something that has to be done every seven days.
