ESCAMBIA COUNTY COLD CASE SOLVED

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has solved a 42-year old cold case murder. On April 7, 1978, the body of 47-year-old real estate agent Carolyn Cox Rose was found in a house she was showing off Highway 297-A. Several suspects were interviewed and DNA evidence was collected, but lack of technology made it impossible to use it for an arrest. However, advances in DNA technology have now identified Julius Hill Jr. as Smith’s killer. Hill died in 2007 in the Victorville Penitentiary in California, while serving a 30-year sentence for two different bank robberies.
