Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to open public schools at full capacity this fall. The plan includes 64 million dollars to close achievement gaps, including a summer reading program for kindergarten through 5th-grade students – 15 million dollars to train, develop and support up to 2,000 new reading coaches – 223 million dollars to support early learning programs – 55 million dollars in financial assistance to childcare providers and 8 million dollars for all public school students graduating next school year to take the SAT and ACT free of charge. Individual school districts will be able to tailor the plan to fit their individual needs.
