The Federal Emergency Management Administration said October 11th is the deadline for 224 EMA tenants now in temporary housing units in Panama City to find permanent housing. The program was offered to Panhandle residents who lost their homes to Hurricane Michael and a group site was established at the fairgrounds on 15th Street and Sherman Avenue in Panama City in March of last year. Tenants must move or be in the process of moving from the temporary housing units – despite a vote by the Panama City Commission last week to extend the deadline. FEMA Spokesman David Mace said the deadline was moved back by six months because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of 925 households that participated in the temporary housing program, 701 have found permanent housing.
