FORT PICKENS FISHING PIER TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY

Gulf Islands National Seashore says the Fort Pickens Fishing Pier will be closed next week for a day so University of West Florida researchers can conduct an underwater study of sea turtles. The pier will close at 9 p.m. Thursday and reopen at noon Friday. The study will help  researchers better understand interactions between young adult sea turtles and piers. The closure extends to 25 yards out from the pier.
