RARE SHELL FOUND

A 10-year-old girl found a rare shell at St. Andrews State Park last week. Susie McElheny found the junonia shell about a foot beneath the sand. It is highly unusual for this kind of shell to be found on a beach and it may have come in with the last beach renourishment project. Junonia shells range from 3 to 6 inches and are usually found offshore by divers and scallop trawlers.
