IMPACT OF HURRICANE SALLY

Preliminary data has been released from the National Weather Service showing the impact of Hurricane Sally. The storm made landfall near Gulf Shores, Alabama, early in the morning of September 16th causing an estimated 200 million-dollars in damage in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. In Escambia County rainfall totals reached 24.8 inches with peak wind gusts of 92 mile per hour. Santa Rosa County recorded 20 inches of rain and peak winds of 82 miles per hour. Storm surge surveys are still being done and information about the level of storm surge is not yet available.
