It is estimated that Navarre Beach lost over 100 million cubic yards of sand during Hurricane Sally. The loss is the worst at the easternmost and westernmost points of the beach and there’s only about 30 feet of beach between the high-water line and the dunes. County officials and Federal Emergency Management Agency personnel are assessing the extent of the erosion. The county is hoping to secure funding from FEMA and the federal and state government to replace the beach erosion with another restoration project.
