PENSACOLA CONFEDERATE MONUMENT REMOVED

The Confederate monument in Pensacola is being dismantled. A work crew removed the statue of the soldier on top of the monument in Florida Square yesterday. The city is paying Green-Simmons Company $135,000 to remove the monument without damaging it, and the contract gives the company 30 days to complete the work. The monument will be stored at the Port of Pensacola until officials find a museum or private property owner to take possession of it.
