OKALOOSA COUNTY HIGH-SPEED ARREST

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said spike strips had to be used to stop a 29-year-old Crestview man who was fleeing from a traffic stop. Deputies approached Anthony Gabriel’s vehicle during a traffic stop on John King Road around 9:30 p.m. but he accelerated, running a red light on Highway 85 and multiple stop signs. At one point, Gabriel tossed a gun out the window, which was recovered. Spike strips were deployed and flattened three of the four tires and he eventually stopped on Highway 4 near Old Brown Road, and was taken into custody. A female passenger was released without charges.
