Governor Ron DeSantis has activated the Florida National Guard in response to possible protests at the state capitol. The Governor directed the Guard to coordinate with state and local enforcement to maintain peace in the state through the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday. DeSantis issued the order the same day that Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey requested the Guard be deployed around the state Capitol. The order, did not include the number of troops or where they will be deployed. The Guard will remain activated through Friday, January 24th.
