RAILROAD CROSSING SAFETY UPGRADE

The Florida Department of Transportation has been working to improve the safety of railroad crossings around the State, including Escambia County. This week crews will be adding what’s called “dynamic envelopes” to four Escambia County railroad crossings to make those areas more visible to motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. A dynamic envelope is an area marked by interconnecting white X’s painted on either side of a railroad crossing. The crossings are on Ninth Avenue – Airport Boulevard – Nine Mile Road – and State Road 4 in Century.
