DEPUTY-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING JUSTIFIABLE

The State Attorney’s Office has ruled that Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were justified when they shot and killed an armed  suspect at 9th and Langley in Pensacola last year. 28-year-old Mickee McArthur, was killed after he pointed a gun at deputies after a vehicle pursuit.  McArthur was wanted on several felony warrants including kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. After a traffic stop McArthur fled on foot with a firearm in his hand, then turned toward deputies with the firearm in his hand. Three deputies fired at McArthur, who died at the scene.
