DEPUTY-INVOLVED FATAL SHOOTING JUSTIFIABLE

The State Attorney’s Office has ruled that Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were justified when they shot and killed an armed  suspect at 9^th and Langley in Pensacola last year. 28-year-old Mickee McArthur, was killed after he pointed a gun at deputies after a vehicle pursuit.  McArthur was wanted on several felony warrants including kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery with a firearm. After a traffic stop McArthur fled on foot with a firearm in his hand, then turned toward deputies with the firearm in his hand. Three deputies fired at McArthur, who died at the scene.
