Congressman Matt Gaetz introduced legislation to designate a U.S. Postal Service facility in Niceville Palm Boulevard North as the “Doolittle Raiders Post Office Building in honor of the 79th anniversary of the Raid on Tokyo during World War II. Specially modified B-25 bombers took off from the aircraft carrier the USS Hornet in 1942.While the raid did little damage it provided a much-needed morale boost to the American public. The Niceville Post Office was selected since it is close to Eglin Air Force Base where the Raiders trained.
