FLORIDA SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE SESSION UNLIKELY

It appears unlikely that a special session of the Florida Legislature on gun violence will be convened. Initial voting shows that House Democrats will have a tough time reaching the required 60 percent approval needed in both chambers. Additionally, neither Senate President Bill Galvano nor House Speaker José Oliva, support calling the Legislature into a special session on the issue of gun violence. Democrats had asked for the special session after recent mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.
