UWF PRESIDENT CONTRACT EXTENSION

The President of the University of West Florida has received a one-year extension to her contract, which will keep her as the university’s head through the 2020 calendar year. The Florida Board of Governors unanimously approved the one-year extension for Martha Saunders and will raise her base salary from $333,125 to $405,000, which is in line with the presidents of comparable in-state institutions such as Florida Gulf Coast University and the University of North Florida. Saunders took office as UWF’s sixth president in 2017 on a three-year contract and had brought UWF to the No. 2 overall public university in the state, one point behind the University of Florida. UWF ranked last in the state when Florida introduced a new performance-based model in 2014.
