The State Attorney’s Office says a 50-year-old Pensacola man was sentenced to prison for defrauding the Escambia County Tax Collector. Between February and March of 2018, Christopher Canham submitted fraudulent bills of sale for two cars to the Escambia County Tax Collector in which he inserted fictitious trade-in vehicles and falsified the total purchase prices, lowering the taxes due by over $6,000. Canham pleaded no contest to two counts of theft of sales tax and was sentenced to two years in state prison by Circuit Judge Jan Shackleford.
